Nicknamed "Bearded Black", the Black Nikka Special has been on the market since 1965. A classic Japanese blend distilled in a twin column Coffey still. For a blended whiskey, it's pretty darn good, and a great home drink for busy people.

Nikka Black Special is a takeaway whiskey that is best enjoyed at parties or rock concerts. Or in a hurry, like when you're battling the Yakuza thugs in Hong Kong. A true rush hour whiskey, fun and vibrant.

It's not the greatest wine you'll ever taste, but it's good enough for everyday use.

Nose: Nutty sweetness with a hint of refreshing vanilla.

Taste: Gone is the sweetness, replaced by spice and salt, with some dark chocolate bitterness.

Finish: Creamy with some malt, medium long.

Balance: Very lively spirit with a nice combination of sweet and spicy. No eureka moments, but a solid and reasonably good blend of whiskeys.
