Located on the north coast of Islay, the 190-year-old Laphroaig Distillery has created the most original Islay because of the strongest sea breeze on the island and the traditional steaming process that has not changed since the establishment of the factory. style of whiskey and is therefore universally recognized as the most iconic Islay whiskey distillery.

Laphroaig Distillery is the first whiskey distillery run independently by women in the history of Scotland. After the death of the distillery owner Ian Hunter in 1954, his wife Bessie took over the Laphroaig Distillery and persisted in the tradition of winemaking until retirement in 1972. The current distillery Still continuing the traditional floor germination work, 1/4 of the malt is made by ourselves, and 3/4 of the malt is Poet Ellen malt
The water source of the winery is taken from Kilbride Dam, which flows through the thick peat layer and crosses the quartzite layer, producing soft water rich in peaty flavor, which makes the wine taste delicate and diverse.
