"Phoenix Flame" is an appropriate theme for Lagavulin's 2022 Special Edition bottling, as it has been designed to be the most phenolic Lagavulin to date. Fans of the distillery will know this means a true peat clientele, with plenty of spice and strength amplified by virgin oak, this peat-rich Lagavulin aged in American oak.

Nose: Campfire, bacon and popcorn, some coastal seaweed, very strong saltiness.

Taste: Black pepper, sweet toffee and crackle of smoky wood.

Finish: Great chili and caramel balance.

Overall: A perfectly balanced classic Lagavulin, the sweetness of American oak is very suitable for this.
