Lagavulin 12 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Whisky (Diageo Special Releases 2021)
拉加維林 12 年2021限量單一純麥威士忌原酒
Alcohol concentration: 56.5%
This is the cornerstone of the special edition, which has appeared in every series since its first full release in 2002. The annual release initially shocked by showing that the rich black smoke of Lagavulin 16 Year Old was not the limit of the distillery's power, but pushed by a fresher, sea breeze. While we now have the mighty 8-year-old keeping us going between special releases, it's still a must-have for Lagavulin fans.
It's all very simple: 12-year oak-strength Lagavulin from American oak barrels. Do we need something more complicated?
Nose: Burnt lemon zest, lemon biscuits and lemon drizzle cake – lots of lemons. Sea breezes are accompanied by medicinal peat and a hint of roast – smoked brisket with a sweet glaze. The smell of medicine builds up and the smoke spreads, sweet on the one hand and very green on the other – the leaves are burning by the side of the barbecue pit.
Palate: Candied lemon from the nose infused with liquorice and plenty of brine. Spicy spice cuts through the middle, softened by a hint of butter. Chocolate lime, leather satchel, clove-studded spiced orange and barrel charcoal follow.
