Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare Pittyvaich is the fourth in this much-anticipated limited-edition series, featuring rare casks from the legendary Speyside 'Ghost' distillery Pittyvaich, a hidden treasure in the whiskey world ,
The winery closed in 1993 for only 19 years. Other 'ghost' whiskeys from Dundas and Cassebridge distilleries are balanced with rare single malts.
Master Blender Dr Jim Beveridge OBE and his team hand-selected two other 'ghost' whiskeys from distilleries in Dundas and Castlebridge. He combined these with extremely rare Scotch whiskeys from four Speyside distilleries (including Mannochmore, Auchroisk, Cragganmore and Strathmill) and Highland whiskeys from Royel Lochnagar - and created something extraordinary.
In addition to the distinctive autumnal character of Pittyvaich whiskey, the sweetness and fruitiness of fresh apples is perfectly balanced with the subtle sweetness of the honeycomb and cork of the 'ghost' whiskeys from Port Dundas and Carsebridge. Other very rare whiskeys bring aromas of dark fruit and berries before taking on mild butterscotch, stewed orchard fruit and a hint of cinnamon.
Master Blender Jim Beveridge has been fascinated by the unique flavors of whiskey from a handful of iconic but long-closed distilleries, and has been researching them to bring extraordinary depth to the award-winning* Johnnie Walker Blue Label personality.
