Every Single Malt we create is Vintage. By that, we don't just mean aged. We mean whisky distilled in a particular year that reaches it's peak of maturity, flavour and character. At which point, we have a choice to make: to either bottle these rare and finite expressions as Single Vintages, or marry them together in perfect harmony to create one of our exquisite Reserves.

The Glenrothes 1988 vintage single malt has been aged more than 20 years in first fill sherry casks (American white oak) and a mixture of sherry casks (Spanish oak) and second fill bourbon casks. Signed John Ramsay, Master Distiller of the former distillery is a complete version, while raisin, nuts, chocolate and marzipan.

Tasting Note~

Color:Deep gold.

Nose:Interstitial aromas, Some leather, hints of eucalyptus and maybe even mint liqueur, quite some chestnut purée, a little more wood smoke ,pine, hay, rich plum jam, a touch of liquorice and only faint whiffs of fresh oak. And toasted brioche. And marzipan. And marmalade. And croissants .A rich and complex nose.

Palate:More crystallised ginger for a start, then more honey, ripe fruits and marmalade and finally a much bigger spiciness involving pepper, cloves, a little cumin and juniper.

Finish:Rich with some Demerara sugar remaining on your tongue for a long time.

Excellent, rather uneasy version of Glenrothes. And entertaining.
