This Margaux Chevalier de Lacombes, the second label of Lacombes, has the best ripeness of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon (Sauvignon Blanc and Franc).

What is impressive about Chateau Lascombes' 2014 Chevalier de Lascombes is its impressive consistency in the middle palate - quite rare for a second wine.

It has a delicious aroma of red and black berries. The entry is bold, with a fairly rich but not overpowering tannic structure. The whole is mixed with fruit; it testifies to the authentic character of this Bordeaux wine.

The ending is rather draggy. It is a solid secondary wine.

The Chevalier de Lascombes 2014 has a plush, easy going, quite opulent nose that is clearly designed to be punter friendly.

The palate is rounded with gritty tannin, tarry black fruit with a slightly short finish. It does not flow as a second wine ought to.
