Benromach 15 Year Old Single Malt Whisky
Alcohol Concentration: 43%
In 2015, Benromach launched this luscious and full-bodied Speyside single malt, a fruity, chocolatey and lightly smoky whiskey that will delight fans of the traditional style.
Aged in a blend of ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks, with a greater emphasis on sherry than the Benromach 10 Year, it is a fascinating reflection of Speyside's past and present.
Aroma: Chocolate, caramel and wood smoke give a hint of new sole rubber and rich malt notes - groats and malt extract. Smoke snaked through the cracks, turning into wisps of soot that flowed from a stove full of roasted apples with raisins.
Palate: Full-bodied, thick and round, with raisins and currants, quickly overwhelmed by spicy peat smoke. As the smoke clears, a puff of baked apple is revealed from the nose, sprinkled with spicy cinnamon and mint leaves. Chocolate-covered licorice and Hob Nob biscuits turn up, along with a touch of charcoal.
Aftertaste: Burnt fruitcake and sultana-rich fruitbread fade away, leaving behind tingling menthol, leafy mint and cocoa.
